year are :
Shadow country by Peter Matthiessen. Is this the Great American
Novel ?
Stendhal, The Charterhouse of Parma. Since Mendelsohn wrote about it in his collection of essays “Waiting for Barbarians”, I have been curious about this work.
The Station: Travels to the Holy Mountain of Greece by
Robert Byron. Another of the writer’s “holy texts”, which will add an additionall
tang to my virst glimpses of the Pantocrator.
